Richard Kouchoo

Solicitor Director

Admitted in 2006, Richard is a highly experienced lawyer with a broad practice background, having managed and supervised a wide range of litigation matters across all court and tribunal levels, including appearances in the High Court of Australia.

His commercial litigation experience includes building and construction disputes, corporate and shareholder matters, equity, and related commercial claims. He has also handled administrative law, environmental matters, employment disputes, criminal proceedings, defamation cases, and family law matters.

Richard has a long history of pro bono advocacy, having represented numerous individuals and contributed regularly to the NSW Bar Association’s Pro Bono Scheme during his decade as a barrister. Earlier in his career at the Bar, he served as a headnote reporter for the Australian Corporations & Securities Reports and has both written and edited various publications.

His professional involvement has extended into community, political, and academic spheres.

Richard served for seven years as treasurer of the lawyers’ Thomas More Society, held the role of president of the Liberal Party’s Marsfield branch during Attorney General Greg Smith’s tenure, lectured in undergraduate taxation law, and began his working life as a software developer before transitioning into legal practice.

Known for his adaptable and commercially focused approach, Richard consistently seeks the most cost-effective strategies to resolve legal problems.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of International Law.

  • Richard has acted for major multinational, NYSE-listed companies, including Detroit Diesel (Daimler), working on large-scale power generation and supply projects for clients such as Chevron and the Mercedes-Benz Group. His experience also includes matters involving major technology and investment organisations such as Fiserv and KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts).
